The Site
Huckleberries and Bears is about my daily life, family, Beautiful Western Canada, Haida Culture and whatever else catches my interest. Kind of like beachcombing… you never know what you’ll find.
The name Huckleberries and Bears is inspired by the Bear Mother legend. It is a story about a berry-picking princess who is taken captive and transformed into a bear. My favourite story of all time!
Me
I am a proud Canadian Haida who has had homes in many exotic locations.
My heart is at home on the Islands on the Boundary between Worlds.
I have shivered near the Igloo Church in the Land of the Midnight Sun.
I have hid out where Canada’s first train robbery took place.
In the shade of a giant K, I ate apples in a place known as the fruit stand capital of Canada.
I watched the traffic drive by in a “blink & ya missed it” former mining town.
I never saw him, but I lived in the hometown of Lindy Ruff.
I took long, dusty walks around a hamlet in the middle of nowhere.
At the moment, I shop in the city of North America’s largest mall with my husband and my two sons.
